Infrawaves

Rolle · 2023

Move from left to right to cross from visible light into deep infrared.

An island as a gateway into a world the eye cannot see.

Île de la Harpe has long been part of my landscape. Accessible only by boat, it holds at its centre an obelisk dedicated to Frédéric César de la Harpe, a quiet presence in the middle of Lake Geneva. It was a subject waiting for the right light. Not daylight: a light the eye cannot perceive.

Infrawaves was born from the desire to make this passage visible, literally. The movement of a mouse or a finger becomes a crossing: from what you normally see to what light contains beyond the visible. Six states of the same landscape. Six ways of being there without quite being there yet.

These are not style filters. They are different wavelengths; each one reveals a different relationship between water, sky and vegetation. The same place. Another world.
