WHITE SILENCE

A bare tree surrounded by white, rocks barely visible beneath the snow.

Above St-Cergue, on the way up to Noiremont. A white day, with snow falling at times, and progress becoming difficult. This tree marked my turning point; it was starting to snow again and I was no longer sure which way to go. I sheltered the camera under an umbrella, lifting it just long enough to take the photograph; it took several attempts to keep the black fabric out of the frame.
